Ulrich Rückriem was born 1938 in Düsseldorf. From 1959 and 1961, Rückriem was a stone-mason at Cologne Cathedral, the influence of which is still apparent in his sculptural work. Most recently, the artist was featured in a solo exhibition at the Neue Nationalgalerie, Berlin (2009). Other solo exhibitions include presentations at the Sprengel Museum, Hannover (2007), Museum Ludwig, Köln (2007), Kunsthalle Hamburg (2005), and Gemeentemuseum Den Haag (2003). Rückriem currently lives and works in Cologne and Clonegal, Ireland.
