Ann Böttcher was born in 1973 in Bruzaholm, Sweden. She currently lives and works in Malmö and New York. The artist studied at Konstfack University College of Arts, Craft and Design in Stockholm and has a Master of Fine Arts from the Malmö Art Academy. Her solo exhibitions include "The Entrance to the Sanatorium", INDEX, Stockholm (2007), "The 1st at Moderna" at the Moderna Museet, Stockholm (2006), and "Yosemite National Park (A Recollection of the Wilderness)" at Simon Says c/o Enkehuset, Stockholm (2003). She has participated in group exhibitions at venues including the Moderna Museet, Stockholm (2006), Galerie Nordenhake, Berlin (2006), P.S. 1 MOMA, New York (2006), Gallery Murray Guy, New York (2006), the Museum of Contemporary Art, Zagreb (2004), Magasin 3 Konsthall, Stockholm, and Centre Culturel Suédois, Paris (2003). In 2005-2006, Böttcher completed an ISCP residency in New York. She was an artist-in-residence at the Rooseum in Malmö in 2004, participated in an IASPIS residency in Stockholm (2003/2004), and has received numerous grants such as the Maria Bonnier Dahlin Foundation (2003), the Ellen Trotzigs Fond (2004), and the Helga Axson Johnsons Stiftelse (2004 and 2002).
